More About Me

Astrophysics and Cosmology

I am currently focused on Cosmology, Galactic Astrophysics, and Time-Domain Astronomy. I am particularly working in the areas of simulating light curves, numerically calculating the precession of orbits around compact objects, and parameter estimation using data analysis techniques for cosmological parameters. My work often involves high-performance computing and AI-driven data analysis. Being an astronomy enthusiast, I also enjoy stargazing and exploring the wonders of the night sky.

Mechanical Engineering

During my degree in Mechanical Engineering, I worked on a variety of projects in solar thermal energy, robotics integrated with AI, metallurgy, machines and mechanical systems, and setups for studying the behavior of electro-weak fishes. These experiences have given me a solid foundation in both theoretical and practical aspects of engineering.

Interdisciplinary Projects

I have contributed to a diverse range of projects, including the development of an IoT-based air quality sensor network, the design and implementation of advanced scheduling algorithms for university course timetabling, and the optimization of vehicle routing problems in computer science. My ability to integrate knowledge from multiple disciplines developed during my undergrad years has been a key asset in my work and research.

Philosophy

I have been exploring various philosophical discourses formally starting with anthropology of texts and literature and humanistic inquiry, where I followed the rise of science and the question of individualism that arises from it. I have been reading about various schools of thoughts including but not limited to nhilism, existentialism, absurdism, and stoicism. To answer some of the questions that arose from my inquiry with these schools, I have been focusing on Indian literature in the form of religious texts to understand the rich culture of my roots and to find meaning in this concious existence. My academic pursuits in this area have been enriched by my engagement with different schools of thought and my interest in the philosophy of science in which I am particularly interested in the epistemology of physics, especially in the context of cosmology and inflationary models.

Personal Interests

Outside of my professional and academic pursuits, I have a passion for sports and gaming. I enjoy playing football, cricket, table tennis, swimming, volleyball, and badminton. I am an avid reader, often immersing myself in books for hours. I also have a deep interest in literary writing and poetry, and I sometimes indulge in creating my own works and short stories. Music is another significant part of my life, I enjoy beat sampling and creating music using applications like GarageBand, FL Studio, and Cakewalk. I have been playing guitar for the past 14 years and I can play any song by ear. I also play bass, keyboard, violin, and drums at an elementary level. I aspire to release an album in the near future. I have recently taken up photography, expanding from astrophotography to exploring everyday visuals and storytelling through the lens. My curiosity has also led me into filmmaking and directing, along with writing thoughtful film and TV reviews, usually on Letterboxd. I’m a passionate advocate for science communication, especially when it intersects with the history of science, and I aspire to contribute to science documentaries in the future, whether as a narrator, creator, or collaborator. On the technical side, I enjoy experimenting with PCB design and sensors. I'm also an avid fan of anime and manga, and I find equal excitement in reading about law, political theory, and history. Additionally, I have a long-standing interest in writing blogs and review articles, which I have been doing since high school. You can check my blogs here.

Academic Goals

Currently, I am working as a research intern at the International Center for Space and Cosmology (ICSC), Ahmedabad University, following my Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering. Along with this I am a part of several international collaborations in astrophysics, cosmology, and time-domain astronomy. My goal is to continue integrating my diverse interests in physics, engineering, computer science, and philosophy, and to contribute to advancements in these fields through interdisciplinary research and innovation.

Experiences

Supervised Formal Research Experience

Undergraduate Thesis - Ahmedabad University

I worked under Prof. Pankaj S. Joshi as a part of my undergraduate thesis, where I worked on probing Primordial non-Gaussianity for different models of inflation, checking self consistency of models and performing parameter estimation for the amplitude of the non gaussianity using mcmc methods and testing the goodness of fit using chi-square analysis.

Cosmology

Independent Research Project - Scheduling Algorithms, Ahmedabad University

I declared an independent project in Scheduling Algorithms at my university under the supervision of Professor Sayan Goswami where I used graph methods, linear integer programming, constraint optimization, and genetic algorithms to get an optimal solution to the course and exam scheduling problems at my university based on the Expression of Interest Data available for the ongoing semester.

Operations Research

Undergraduate Research Project - Atmospheric Lab, Ahmedabad University

Created a network on Purple Air SD 2 sensors using an ESP32 chip using the Purple Air API under the guidance of Professor Aditya Vaishya, which was used as a data logger for air quality data analysis.

Atmospheric Physics

Undergraduate Research Project - Mechanical Department, Ahmedabad University

I worked on characterizing the effects of Rotary Friction Welding on AISI 1018 Mild Steel Samples under the guidance of Professor Shuja Ahmed, which incorporated techniques such as microstructure analysis, microhardness testing, wire cutting, UTM testing, and weld analysis.

Metallurgy

Summer Research Student - Physical Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad

I characterized the Seebeck Effect under the guidance of Professor Navinder Singh. I also worked on side projects where I helped with the experimental setup for experiments characterizing Barkhausen Effect, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance, and Nernst Effect. I also created a small altimeter sensor that recorded the change in altitude from a fixed position.

Condensed Matter Physics

Supervised Informal Research Experience

Undergraduate Research Project - Neurophysiology Lab, Bioscience Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad University

I created a mechanical setup to test the foraging behavior of ghost knifefish (Apteronotus albifrons), under the guidance of Professor Rama Ratnam. I used infrared LEDs to mimic a nocturnal environment for the fishes, along with an ArduCam with an IR cut filter which was used to record the movement of the fishes and then mathematically modeled the same using ToxTrac.

Neurophysiology

Supervised Course Projects

Piston Assembly - Learning Factory Project

Created a working piston assembly system first in Fusion 360, and then fabricated the design in aluminium and sheet metal. This project was performed under the guidance of Professor Shuja Ahmed.

Automobile Engineering

Algorithmic Solutions to the Vehicle Routing Problem - Manufacturing Systems and Operations

Developed and tested several algorithmic solutions to the Vehicle Routing Problem using Scheduling Algorithms, heuristics, and graph methods under the guidance of Professor S.G. Deshmukh.

Operations Research

Neural Network along with 3-D SLAM for developing an autonomous robot - Robotics

Designed and crafted a 10mm Acrylic chassis for a mobile robot. Developed an obstacle detection neural network using Roboflow, optimized for OpenCV AI Kit camera OAK-D. Integrated two L298N motor drivers with an Arduino Mega to control four Mecanum wheels, including the corresponding Arduino code. Implemented a 3D Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) using the depthai-sdk to premap and real-time remap the environment. Ongoing work includes integrating these components to create a fully autonomous robot, with plans to transition the main device controller from a laptop to an NVIDIA Jetson Nano. This was performed under the guidance of Professor Maryam Kaveshgar.
